The Malaysian Serama was first imported into the United States in 2001. One of the first and the largest importers was Jerry Schexnayder. Jerry is still very active in the promotion of what he has named The American Serama. The majority of the Serama in the US comes from Jerry's original stock of some 130+ birds. The American Serama is prized for its small size, large chest, verticle wings, multiple colors and proud tail. The SCNA sponsors shows all over the USA.  The birds shown are highly prized by their owners who are generally more than happy to talk to anyone about their American Serama.

The Malay Ayam Serama Bantam is a proud little bird that is sure to please. Owners are working toward acceptance by American Poultry Association.  These little bantams lay eggs year round and require little feed and small coops. This makes them real favorable for in city backyard flocks.
